May 14: Swiftsure Bank Report
A beauty of a day fishing off the west coast of Vancouver Island. We left Port Renfrew at 6 am, racing the low tide out of the San Juan River. We motored out to the northwest corner of Swiftsure Bank, a few km out in front of the Carmanah lighthouse, chasing the bigger halibut that Springtime can deliver. And we weren’t disappointed! Before too long, we had three halibut in the boat – one double header with two 45 pounders and one 20 pounder later in the morning. A sunny day, light winds, good tunes, chit-chatting while awaiting the next bite. Good times.

Photos show Josh C fighting his first ever halibut and then proudly showing it off, along with one caught by John B.
