The last few weeks have seen some remarkable days out there, but the details are lost in a blur of salmon and halibut coming over the gunwale. Day after day of the Jolly Rogers motoring back with the fish cooler overflowing and the guests grinning ear to ear. What else could we ask for?
Lots of halibut still on the Swiftsure Bank, mostly around 20 pounds with the occasional 30 pounder landed. We expect the halibut to stick around until the end of September, when they begin their offshore migration for the winter.

But as the springs pass by, then the big Northern coho will start arriving. We expect a good run of coho towards the end of September and well into October. Port Renfrew is a coho fishing destination, with trophy sized fish up to 25 pounds caught just outside the harbour. Hook one of these acrobatic fish and hang on for an exciting ride!
