Looking Forward to Fishing Soon!I have been reviewing emails from last year and thought I'd send an update for the 2007 Vancouver Island fishing season.
Word is in from D.F.O. on their 2007 stock assessment, and it looks as though the summer and fall runs for the Fraser River and West Coast Chinook salmon is strong. We should see these fish starting to show up around Port Renfrew in the beginning of June and continuing to feed in our local waters until late September. Coho and pink salmon fishing should be good this year with a particularly strong run of pinks anticipated in the Fraser river. As for the halibut fishing on Swiftsure Bank, we can expect the usual pattern of migration with larger fish being caught in the early season (May& June) and lots of chicken sized halibut through to the end of September.
I am in the midst of outfitting the boat for the upcoming season and have got my hands on some exciting new tackle and electronics which will ensure a productive and enjoyable day for all. If you are interested in fishing this summer, let me know and I will do my best to book you during prime time.
